Tax Relief on Medical Expenses:
Tax relief can be claimed on certain medical expenses where prescribed by a practitioner. Pre 2009 tax relief can be claimed at the higher rate of tax, but since 2009 tax relief can be only claimed at the standard rate. You cannot claim for any amount that will or has been reimbursed by a health insurer or has or will be the subject of a compensation payment. To claim tax relief fill out a Med 1 form, available from the Revenue. If you are bad at doing these things or would rather have some one else to do if for you, Lynwood Resources, an Accounting firm are now offering this as one of their services.
