Massage Therapy
At the Maple Clinic we offer the following massages:
Sports Massage
Our sports massages are popular with cyclists, marathon runners, triathletes, iron men, runners, and climbers. We can tailor a sports massage to target the muscles or problem areas specific to your sport.
Massages are a great way to keep muscles loose, to work out problem areas, help with recovery, and prevent injury occurring. As the massage is given by Physical Therapists we can keep an eye out for areas of potential injury and advise you on preventative measures to take.
Feel free to contact us if you would like more sport specific information.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage uses specific techniques to work deeply into knots and areas of tension in the body such as the neck, shoulders and back. It is extremely beneficial for chronic muscle tension and stress.
Deep tissue massage has excellent benefits such as:
- Ease sore muscles and joints
- Increase joint movement and flexibility
- Aide the removal of toxins and wastes
- Improve skin and muscle tone
- Improve energy
- Aid recovery from injuries
- Reduce stress and fatigue
- Increase circulation
- Relieve muscle spasms and tension headaches
Pregnancy Massage
We provide a gentle massage to help ease aches & pains associated with body changes during pregnancy. Carrying a growing baby changes your centre of gravity putting a lot of stress through the neck, shoulders, abdomen and back. A gentle massage can help provide relief from these strains, it helps to increase circulation and reduce swelling, improve skin elasticity and help with stretch marks, and provide stress relief during what can be an emotional time.
Pregnancy massage is suitable for mums-to-be in good health from 12 weeks. If you have experienced uterine bleeding or staining, previous pre-term labour (20-37 weeks), sudden changes in blood pressure, are diabetic or have been diagnosed with placenta previa, please consult your doctor before booking a massage.
