Junior Road World Cup
The team of Felix English, Jack Wilson, and Ewen McDonald competed in two events; a 28km Time Trial and a 128km hilly road race. The time trial took place under thundery dark shies but thankfully the rain stayed away. By contrast the road race was on a hot day – 35 degrees and no wind. The conditions were tough with only 100 out of 158 riders finshing the course. Due to a crash, only Jack finished the road race placing well in the top half of the field. He was met at the end of the race by his delighted father, who also represented Ireland in the Junior Worlds in Washington in 1978.
