World Track World Cup Manchester

The fourth round of the cycling track worl cups were held in Manchester from the 18-20th of February. Phsyical therapist Karen Doyle travelled with the team.

The team did very well, with Martyn Irvine and Caroline Ryan qualifying to go to through to the World Championship in the Netherlands in March. Martyn will be taking part in the Omnium (6 events consisting of a mix of endurance and speed races over 2 days) and Caroline Ryan competing in the Individual Pursuit.

The Individual Pursuit is a timed race over 3km where two riders line up on opposite sides of the track. The cyclists with the top four fastest times then ride off against each other for first to fourth place.

While the women's team pursuit team of Caroline Ryan, Ciara Horne, and Jennifier O'Reilly set a new national record for their race time, they did not qualify for the Worlds in March.
