He did brilliantly placing 5th overall. Martyn went into the Beijing 9th overall in the European standings. Only the top 8 get to qualify for the Olympics, but his great performance in Beijing upped him up 8th in the European rankings. He now needs to hold this position by earning additional points in the final round the World Cup in London in February and the Worlds in Melbourne in April to ensure his qualification for the Olympics.
