New lunctime Pilates courses will be starting on Feb 22nd in Sandyford. They are Pilates for Athletes (Beginners) and Prenatal Pilates.

We are working with the Irish Veteran Cyclists Association to publish tips on their website in order to help those training for Wicklow 100 and 200 cycling events to do so without injury. Our latest article focuses on bike set up.

In January, we were in Beijing at the 3rd round of the UCI track World Cup. Martyn Irvine was the only Irish rider competing.

 

We have two new Pilates classes starting in January - Pilates for Back Pain, and Pilates for Athletes. They are filling fast so enrol early to secure your place on the course.

I was invited to talk to the members of St. Olaf’s Ladies Club last night on back, hip and knee pain. We covered common conditions associated with aging including getting up to do some exercises to keep the back, hips and knees strong. They were great, very welcoming, and also supplied great tea and cakes! The perfect gig!

The Women With Altitude meet was held from the 8-10 of April in Tollymore Outdoor Centre in the Mourns. It was organised by Mountaineering Ireland.

Last week the Track Worlds was held in Apeldoorn in Holland. All the competitions over the winter served as qualifiers for the Worlds. Two Irish riders, Caroline Ryan and Martyn Irvine qualified to go and race there. Karen Doyle was out there working with the team.

The fourth round of the cycling track worl cups were held in Manchester from the 18-20th of February. Phsyical therapist Karen Doyle travelled with the team.

Last week Physical Therapist Karen Doyle was in Poland working with the elite male and female squads at the European Elite Track Championships. It was a great event with good results and a few surprises!

Over the October Bank Holiday Mountaineering Ireland had their Autumn meet in Tollymore National Training Centre in Co Down. In conjunction with Northern Physiotherapist Andy McMullen, Karen Doyle, Physical Therapist, put a workshop together focusing on recovery strategies. Read more about what strategy works best...

The Second Achill ROAR Adventure Race took place on Saturday 11th of September with 700 competitors including Karen Doyle (Physical Therapist) taking part in the sport and expert races. Karen gives a race report here.

Gealforce 2010 was a great event with 3000 entrants completing the 65km event running, kayaking, and biking from Glassilaun beach in Galway to Westport via Croagh Patrick. Karen Doyle took part in the event and gives a report of the race here.

Last week, Physical Therapist Karen Doyle accompanied the Irish Junior Cycle team to the Raod World Cup in Italy

We had a great morning on Sunday working at the Beast of the East triathlon. It was a great event, with a great atmosphere. Lot's of achy calfs and hamstrings from all the hills!

New this summer we are introducing a 30 minute massage appointment for only €30.

We had a really enjoyable evening out at the Wicklow Tri Aquathon tonight in the sunshine. We were doing free pre race warm up and post race massages.

Karen Doyle, Physical Therapist, was working at the Para-Cycling road World Cup in Segovia Spain last weekend with the Irish Squad. Well done to Mark Rohan who got a silver medal in the handcycling road race, and Catherine Walsh and Fran Meehan who came 2nd in the tandem time trial.

Tri-Athy, Wicklow 200 &100, Women's Mini Marathon and the Cork City Marathon are only a few of the events on this weekend that clients from the clinic are partipating in.
