Beginner Pilates

This small class is suitable for those new to Pilates and particularly those may have chronic back issues. It is led by Physical Therapist Karen Doyle and exercises are adapted to work on issues like chronic back, hip, or shoulder pain.

Exercises will be taught which focus on stabilising the spine through head, shoulder and core control as well as placing heavy emphasis on common areas of muscle weakness, imbalance, and reduced flexibility. These are often the root cause of many injuries in joints such as in the back, knee and shoulder.

In the class we aim to develop your core control by practicing the foundation exercises but  will also introduce new exercises each week to keep it interesting for you. Equipment such as weights and balance balls will be provided to add challenge as needs be.

This small class is suitable for those how have completed Pilates before and where a faster paced class is suitable from the outset. Similar to the beginners class, this class will be suitable for those who may have chronic back issues as long as they completed 6-8 beginners Pilates classes in the last 12 months and hence understand core control.

It is led by Physical Therapist Karen Doyle and exercises are adapted to work on issues like chronic back, hip, or shoulder pain.

The class is progressive, it aims to challenge and develop your core control by practicing the foundation exercises but also introducing new exercises each week.

Pilates mats will be provided but you can bring your own mat if you wish. Other equipment like therabands or light weights are provided should you wish to use them. Wear loose clothing.

1:1 Pilates is suitable for anyone who wants to practice Pilates in a 1:1 setting rather than a group class.

It is great for someone who would like to begin to develop core strength on an individual basis before joining a class, or someone who is rehabilitating from an injury and where a tailored approach would be more suitable to correct muscle imbalances than a class approach.
